A Valentine Package!

I was so excited on Friday when my husband came home from work and told me that I had a package on the front door step! I had a huge box full of goodies from someone I have never even met :)

I mentioned in an earlier post that I joined a group called Seasonal Swaperoos. Well, I got my first package on Friday from a very creative girl.

She sent me a box with these in it:

In case you can't see everything, let me just tell you about it. There is an adorable "Be Mine" sign made with vinyl, a cube with "love" words in vinyl another wooden decorative thing with a glitter heart...what girl doesn't just love glitter :) Makes me smile!
Then, there is a pink heart dish with a bag a heart candies, 4 boxes of heart candies for my kids, an adorable wooden silver bird that is just precious! Oh, and the fun heart mug :) Not pictured is a package of craft items to create valentine doorknob hangers (my daughter snatched that right up and set out to make them for all of us). I just loved my surprises!!!
And, my favorite of all....my new Valentine Door Hanger!!!

It immediately replaced the burlap wreath that I had hanging. I think it is just adorable and it looks like she really put a lot of work into it.

Seasonal Swaperoos!!!

I an so excited!!! I have joined a site called "Seasonal Swaperoos". You join for only $5 per year and you are eligible to participate in any and all "swaps" throughout the year. When you commit to participating in a swap, you are asked to put a goodie basket together worth about $15 and send it to the person that you are assigned to. When you are assigned a person, you receive an email with a little info about that person.
This time, I was assigned a girl in Arizona. I have checked out her blog and read a little about her to know what she likes so that I can create a package for her.

peanut butter granola

Are you ready for a quick and easy recipe?

I can't remember where I first saw this recipe, but here it is...

Ingredients: Peanut Butter, Butter, Honey, Old Fashioned Oats

Melt 2 Tbsp of butter in a large pot. Add about 1/3 cup peanut butter and 1/3 cup honey. Stir until all ingredients are melted together and smooth.

Remove from heat and stir in 3 cups Old Fashioned Oats.

Spread on a cookie sheet (I didn't grease mine) and bake at 350 for about 10 minutes. Keep watch so that the granola doesn't burn.

Let cool and break into chunks. I mixed in chocolate chips and dried cranberries. You can mix in whatever your family likes. This is a great snack to keep on hand and pack up for your child's snack at school.

I'd love to know if you tried this recipe!

Oh, and I didn't use the EXACT measurements.

I just eyeball until it looks like I want it to :)

Hair Bow making class!!

So, today I had a blast with some of my friends. Every couple of months, I hold a sewing class in my home. It is usually about 6 ladies, their machines, a fabric kit and a tutorial that I created. We all sit down for a couple of hours and have a great time.

Well, this time, we decided to to a hair bow making class. My friend Darlene (Designedbydarlene on FB) makes beautiful bows, so she taught the class. She provided ribbon to practice with and the girls paid $5 to take the class (which included a kit to make a double bow).

Here are two girls holding their ribbon "just so" in order to get the ribbon "peenched" (southern for pinched) just right to make the perfect hair bow.

Here's my table with all of the supplies laid out...of course, my coffee in the bottom left corner is a necessary "supply".

And one more time, in case we didn't get it the other 50 times, here's Darlene showing us exactly how to hold our ribbon to get the best bow.

In all seriousness, she is amazing! She makes beautiful bows that she does sell and she makes beautiful dresses for little girls that she also sells. Here is an example of her clothing:

Remembering Ryan...

I have mentioned on this blog that I would share my journey with my precious baby boy Ryan...so...here goes...

On Friday, March 7, 2003, I was heading out for the day with my 2 year old. We had plans of shopping a little and preparing for the delivery of our new baby. I was not feeling so well that day, but headed out anyway. I was 39 weeks pregnant with an extremely active baby...boy or girl? We didn't know just yet.

That particular morning, the baby was slow moving. I didn't think too much about it and went on shopping anyways. While in the first store, my 2 year old touched my belly and said "NO"...that was very strange to me. We went about our business and headed home.

I noticed on the way home that the baby wasn't moving. This concerned me a little, but I went ahead and tried to eat something and drink water. My 2 year old went down for a nap. The baby still wasn't moving, so I called the doctor and they told me to head on into the office. At this point, I had to find someone to come stay with Jackson while he was napping. After about 45 minutes, my youngest brother came to stay at our house and I met my mom for her to drive me. My husband was in meetings and I couldn't get in touch with him, so I left him a message telling him where I was going.

My mom and I got to the office and they immediately took me back to check on the baby. The nurse put the baby monitor on my belly and there was no noise. She immediately took it off and went to get the doctor. (My regular doctor was out of town) The doctor came in, turned on the ultra sound machine and went to work.

At that moment, I heard the words that every mother fears the most: "I'm sorry, I don't have good news". I was totally heart broken. I knew what that meant, my baby had died before I even got to meet him or her. My mom was in the room with me and came over to hold me. I think 2 seconds later, my husband walked in the room to find out the bad news.

To make a long story a tad shorter, we went home to pack bags, get Jackson situated and head to the hospital to deliver the precious baby. Two of our pastors beat us to our house and were waiting on us to pray with us and help in any way that they could. They were wonderful! Then, once we got into a room and I got situated, more friends and family were gathering in the waiting room ready to lend their support.

Early the next morning, March 8th, Ryan Thomas Lewis was stillborn. He was beautiful and perfect, 7 lbs and 6 oz and was 21 1/4 inches long. He died because of a cord accident.

Yes, this story is very sad, but God had a plan and I can look back and see some of that plan. Oh how I wish Ryan were here, but I have 2 other precious children who may not be here otherwise. McKinsey Ryan was born exactly one year later on Ryan's due date. Jonathan Carter came into this world 2 years after McKinsey.

Our family is complete and we look forward to the day that we get to meet Ryan in heaven.

I kept a journal for the next year after Ryan's death. Looking back on it, I am so glad that I did. You see, a very dear friend of mine lost her first daughter at 40 weeks. She too, was stillborn. My husband and I walked that path with them and learned a lot from them. They were at our side immediately when we found out about Ryan. She suggested that I keep a journal and "look" for God's blessings, even when I don't want to. Well, I did that and am so glad that I did.

Here is something that I wrote on April 20, 2003: We held you in our arms for a short time, but we hold you in our hearts forever. For nine months we anticipated your arrival and your newborn cry. For the rest of our lives, we will anticipate your laughter in heaven. We miss you so very much, but we have joy in knowing that we will see you again one day!

As you rest in the arms of Jesus, so do we.

I tell you my story to ask for your help. While I was in the hospital, the nurses took precious photos of Ryan with items that were donated to give to grieving parents. We left the hospital with photos of him, a blanket that was made for him, stuffed animal, baby ring and lots of other items to help us remember him.

I have been making flannel 24 x 24 blankets to donate in memory of Ryan. If you would like to help by donating blankets, please contact me at julieklewis@comcast.net I will give you more detailed information on what is needed.

After going through my experience, I learned that the perinatal loss department runs out of donations for parents. They keep whatever they can on hand. That weekend, they ran out of memory boxes. I took my baby's things home in a ziploc bag. They nurses were so sorry that they had to send them home that way, but didn't have a choice. My wish is that every parent gets to take home a blanket that was made for their baby to keep forever.

Snow Jam 2011

We have been "snowed-in" here in Atlanta for the last 3 days! For us, 6 inches of snow plus 1 inch of ice is a major deal...EVERYTHING shuts down because we can't handle the ice. Snow is not the problem, but ice is.
My kids are loving it...day 3 of no school. BUT, I don't think that they realize that they will have to make it up later in the year.
We have been sledding every day and really taking advantage of the beautiful white stuff...it truly is gorgeous! Here are a few pictures:

Those are my precious kiddos! They have enjoyed the snow so much, however, I do believe that cabin fever is setting in.

Home Sweet Home!

Now, on to a yummy recipe. Since we haven't been able to go anywhere, so I have been cooking and baking like a mad woman. Here is what I made for breakfast this morning:

Homemade cinnamon rolls with just a little cheating!

You will need:

frozen bread dough (I used the Kroger brand with several loaves in one bag)

1 stick butter

1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar

cinnamon (close to 1 TBSP)

and flour to roll out your dough

Recipe:

Let your dough thaw out completely (about 1 hour)

Roll out on a floured surface to form a rectangle. You may need to stretch it a little to get it going. It should measure about 12 inches by 6 inches. Then take 2 TBSP of your room temp butter and generously grease an 8 x 11 pan. Mix the dark brown sugar, cinnamon and remaining butter together. Spread that mixture over the rolled out dough. Roll up your dough long-ways and cut into 1 inch rolls. You should get 12 out of this. Place in the buttered pan, cover and refrigerate overnight.

Set out on the counter the next morning while your oven is heating up to 350 degrees. Then, uncover and bake for about 15-20 minutes.

Of course, you can use your own bread dough recipe. You can also let the rolls sit out for about an hour before baking instead of refrigerating overnight.

If you want to add an icing, you can mix some powdered sugar with some melted butter and a little cream cheese. But, they are so good and buttery just like they are!

Oh what fun it is!!!

I just purchased a new sewing machine today....sigh...I so needed one.
This is a Janome DC2010 and ~~I really like~~ absolutely love this machine!!! I have been busy working on projects all day.

Here is one project. I am going to commit to "couponing" every chance I get this year. I really need to get organized when it comes to grocery shopping and meal planning. Our goal is to eat out on Wednesday nights at church and then on Sunday afternoons. That means that I'll be cooking A LOT this year. I"ll be looking for new recipes too :)

With all of that said, I created a neat little organizer today that I hope will help me.

I like the look of the button and ribbon closure. You simply wrap the ribbon around the button and off you go...now for the inside...

It has a pocket on the right side for a small notepad, a pocket in the middle for your pen that you MUST have with you when you shop. On the left side is a pocket for coupons or other papers. I added the triangle in the corner for a little "whimsey".

I hope you like it. I will work on a tutorial for this in the coming weeks...stay tuned!

Tooth Fairy Pillows!

I cannot believe that it is really 1-1-11 already, WOW time flies!

I have spent most of the day in the bed not feeling well today, but I absolutely HAD to make something. My daughter is going to lose her first tooth this week. How do I know that? Because I have scheduled a tooth extraction for Thursday. She is nervous and excited at the same time. When my oldest lost his first tooth, I made him a tooth fairy pillow out of 2 hemstitched cocktail napkins. Here is what his looked like....

The little fabric pocket at the bottom is a "pirate" theme...only because I had that on hand already and it seemed right for a 6 year old.

My daughter has been asking for her tooth fairy pillow for a while now, even though none of her teeth have been loose. So, I made hers today. Here it is...

The same brown cocktail napkins with a polka dot fabric pocket and "McKinsey's Tooth" embroidered in green. I love her ribbon...a brown ruffle ribbon paired with a thinner cupcake ribbon. This ribbon set ties around the doorknob or bed post, while Jackson's was one ribbon that simply hung without tying.

After I finished hers and pulled Jackson's back out, I realized that I used the same color thread for their personalization. I guess the little one will have one in green also, when his time comes :)

Stockings....

It is that time again...time for Christmas sewing!

Last year, a very dear friend of mine was going through an extremely difficult time in her life. She asked me if I would be interested in making Christmas stockings for her and her 4 girls...well...OF COURSE!!

I love to sew and especially love to sew for others, so I jumped all over this. She gave me a color scheme and gave me full reign of the project.

Here is how the stockings ended up...

I made each of them a little different, but used the same fabrics throughout. The black is an awesome thick corduroy and the red is a soft wale corduroy. I matched those two up with a french toile in cream and black.
I love how they turned out. Oh, and the cuffs are monogrammed in coordinating colors all in the same font...Whimsey...one of my favorites!

Time for a Christmas dress!

Whew, that was fast! The saying "as slow as Christmas" doesn't seem true to me anymore. It seems like Christmas comes faster and faster every year. Does it seem that way to you too?

I went to a Grandmother/Mother/Daughter dinner and ornament swap about a week ago. My little one, who is not so little anymore, didn't have a Christmas dress to wear. SO...I made her one. I have a tutorial for a peasant dress/top and I altered it a little to make a long-sleeved dress for McKinsey. It was way too cold for a short-sleeved dress.

I guess you'll have to turn you head to the left to get the full effect, or you can turn your screen sideways. Let's try this again...here's another version of the dress.

Once again, turn your head, or your screen...I added a red satin ribbon to make it a little more "Christmasy"...is that even a word? It is now!

ornaments!!

I have been using my Cricut machine up a storm!! I love that thing...and...the possibilities are endless. I have used it for scrapbooking, of course, but have also used it to cut fabric and vinyl. The vinyl is my new favorite. Here are some ornaments that I have made with the adhesive backed vinyl...

It says "joy" on the front and there are little snowflakes and dots all around. I think it just screams cuteness :)

Hi, I know it has been a long while since my last post. I'm sorry!

Baby Katherine Melissa is here!

My newest niece arrived a few weeks ago. Her name is Katherine Melissa Thomas. Katherine is after one of my Grandmothers and Melissa is my sister-in-law's name.

Of course, I made it to the hospital when little Katherine was born. BUT, I didn't get to see her. I had to get home to tend to my own 3 children, but told them all about her size and what I did know about her. Fortunately, my schedule allowed me to see Katherine the next day and I got to hold her for about an hour with no interruptions! I just absolutely LOVE tiny babies :)

So, my children were very anxious to meet their newest cousin. They had today off from school, so we took the hour long trip to see them. Oh, it was so worth the trip...always is! They are a precious little family. My brothers all picked great wives...good taste runs in the family (wink, wink). Back to my story...their oldest daughter is in Kindergarten and had school today, so my children were very excited for her to get home from school so that they could play for a while. During their "playtime", I was able to shoot a few photos of Katherine and thought I would share some with you all.

So, I had to take this photo when my SIL brought out the pearls. And, they were Katherine's great-grandmother's pearls. I am just so sentimental and things like this really mean a lot to me.

I had a blast "playing" today at my brother and SIL's house with this precious new life. There are a lot more photos, but I'll save those for Katherine's parents :)

Fall Decor!!

I saw someone else's blog who had made a cute "JOY" door hanger for the fall season. I don't remember where I saw it, but here is my version of it...

I don't really like the wood showing in the background, but wasn't quite sure what to do with that part. I may have some creative moments, but there are always those moments when I'm just not quite sure what to do.

Now, I had my husband cut a board for me that was 12 inches long. Then, I covered wooden letters (J and Y) with cutesy scrapbooking paper and modpodged it...LOVE that stuff!!! I tied a bow around a wreath and have my letters that spell my favorite word...JOY!! I nailed the J and Y to the board and hung the "O" from a nail. Then, I drilled holes in the top of the board and used twine to make a nice little hanger thingy.

I really must get in the decorating mood to finish my fall decorating. I'm just not getting motivated for some reason.

Tuesday's Tip...fabric stash!

So, do you remember the photo of my "fabric stash"?? Let me remind you...

Now, do you remember? Ok, and remember the foam boards that I purchased from my favorite craft store?

Yes, those 20 x 30 boards. Well, I cut them into 10 x 10 squares and 10 x 5 rectangles to hold my fabric, to make little "bolts" of fabric. Here is how it turned out...

So, you have to turn your head to the left or your computer screen. For some reason, my photo upload is rotating my photo and I cannot fix it...ugh!! I am sorry about that. But, can you see the little bolts of fabric lined on my wire shelves?? I have a couple of stacks with fabric that would not fit on a bolt and a basket of scraps for appliques, etc. At the bottom, I have some unfinished projects in buckets...hope I get to those little projects at some point!

I love the bolts! Now, I can see exactly what fabric I have and can try to use that up before purchasing more...probably not gonna happen.

Little Girl Necklace

It has been a week or so since my last post...sick kids, Women of Faith, crazy schedule, excuses, excuses, excuses!!!

I want to show you what I have been working on lately. I have been stamping sterling silver! Yeah...it is so fun and I just love the finished product. This particular one has to be one of my favorites so far, so I will share it with you.

It is a 1/2" sterling silver disc that I stamped a 1/4" "M" onto and domed the disc. I added a cute little green crystal that sits right inside of the domed disc. This one is for my daughter and is the perfect size for a little girl or for an adult who likes dainty pieces.

Faithful Friday...Good News!!

This week has been a really great week with lots of awesome things happening! First of all, my husband got a job and started today, sigh of relief. Yes, God answered that prayer.

And, one of my SIL's had her 2nd baby yesterday. Her name is Katherine, after my precious grandmother who I know is smiling down from heaven. Yes, answer to another prayer.

And, yes there is more, we started a really cool thing at church this week. Our preacher preached on Sunday morning on Genesis 1:26-27. As a congregation, we were asked to take those verses, along with the notes from the sermon and a few other verses and study them over the week. I know that may sound tedious, but it is really neat. Chris and I would talk about about what we read and what the Holy Spirit was teaching us about the verses. Well, of course, we were getting totally different things out of the verses...so cool!! That is the point in this whole process. We are to study the Word separately and then on Sunday morning, we will gather together in Bible Study to talk about what the Holy Spirit revealed to us individually. It all ties into one theme, which is what the preacher preached on the previous week. I have learned so much in just the first week of this and am absolutely loving it.

The Lord is really speaking to me about putting on the "Full Armor of Christ" every single day so that I can take a stand against whatever Satan may throw my way!

This is something that we are doing as a whole church for the next 12 weeks. It has really challenged everyone to get into the Word and really meditate on what God says.

I challenge you to try this in your spiritual life. Take whatever verses your preacher preaches on, along with your notes and review them every day throughout the week. You will have an awesome time with the Lord and I am sure that you will learn something new.

Tutu bag

I have got to share this little bag with you all....

An awesome customer requested a "ballet/dance" bag for her daughter. I believe that her daughter is about 3 or 4. She let me get my creative juices flowing to come up with a unique bag just for her. This what I came up with. I love the little tulle ruffle to make the bag look like it is wearing a tutu, thus the name "Tutu Bag".

Of course, it had to be personalized and I just adore pink and brown for girls. The striped bow is removable. I have attached it with a safety pin, so that Emilee can take the bow off if she wants to.

Tuesday's Tip...fabric stash

Wow! What a ~~mess~~ creative room...yes, this is part of my sewing/craft room. This particular photo is of my "stash" of fabric. Notice how it is scattered around the shelving? Thrown here and there?

Well, NO more of this! I am ready to get it all organized.

This particular part of my sewing room is actually under the stairs going to the main level of the house. My wonderful husband finished our basement about 7 years ago and made me a craft/sewing/hobby room. We wanted to use every inch of space that we could, so I am using the space under the stairs to hold my fabric.

Not too long ago, I decided to donate a lot of my fabric that I had been holding on to for a long time. I had about 3 times the amount that you see in the photo. Crazy, I know. I am tired of looking at the mess every time that I go into my room to work. So, my goal for this week is to get the fabric organized.

I went to my local arts and crafts store, you know the one, and purchased these for 50% off.

"What are those?", you ask. These are 20 x 30 pieces of foam board. I will cut them into 10 x 10 pieces for my fabric! What a neat idea, huh? My friend, Darlene, taught me this little trick. And, it is inexpensive. I purchased 5 boards and will get 30 pieces to hold 30 different fabric pieces. Each board cost me $.98! I am so excited.
I have already started, but am not going to show you any more photos right now. I am going to wait until next Tuesday for the "reveal". Only because I have to give myself that much time to get it finished. Gradually, I hope to show you my craft/sewing/hobby room as it gets organized. I have some other organization tips to share with you along the way. But, for now, go purchase some foam board, cut it into smaller pieces and wrap your fabric so that you have miniature bolts to store your fabric on.

Save, Save, Save!

I'm sorry! I missed yesterday's post on "Tuesday's Tips". Please forgive me. I'll try better next time.

But, I do have an inspiration piece to share with you. While getting all of my "binders" together and organizing coupons, etc. I made a keyring! It is a keyring to hold all of those little "tags" that you get when you sign up to save money from various stores. You know the ones (wink, wink). This keyring is special, for several reasons. One, it is personalized. Two, it reminds you to "save" money. And, three, it is handstamped onto sterling silver!

Tada...here it is...

What do you think? I love it, personally. I think it is a handy way to keep up with all of those cards instead of having them on the same keyring as my keys. I keep it in my car with my coupons, so that it is always ready to go.

So, really, this is a tip for Tuesday, except it is on Wednesday.

Faithful Friday...journaling!

Happy Friday!

Do you journal? Do you have a prayer journal? On Wednesday evenings, I teach a class called Funky Foodz at our church. This class is for kids and yes, we cook! We have about 45 minutes, so we cook a recipe, then move to another room to do our lesson. Missions is our focus, so we incorporate that into our lesson. We offer several different "tracks" that the children can choose from every 6 weeks. I always teach Funky Foodz, so every 6 weeks, I have a different group of kids. It is a blast!!

At the beginning of this session, my co-teacher brought everyone notebooks like this...

We are teaching them how to keep a prayer journal. To tie in "missions" to the prayer journal, we have given the group photo cards of our local missionaries to add to their journal so that they can pray for those missionaries. I have noticed that when I am teaching someone how to use a prayer journal, I use mine more. Which is a good thing!

Here is a quick glance at mine...

I date my prayer requests so that I can go back and add in either answers or additions to that request. I also include praises. I think it is very important to be thankful when we see the answer to a prayer!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says "16 Be joyful always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Am I always joyful? Do I pray continually? Do I thank God in all circumstances? WOW, those are tough questions to answer. Joyful...I think I am joyful, maybe not always happy, but there is a difference. Happiness comes from our surroundings and ourselves, JOY comes only from Jesus! It is very possible to have Joy and not be happy at the same time, I've been there! I'll share more about that in another post.

Pray continually...what does that mean? I think it means to always have a prayerful heart. I told the girls in my class on Wednesday, if the Lord brings someone to your mind, say a quick prayer for them. God lays people on our hearts for a reason! I do not think that pray continually means to be on your knees every minute of the day in deep prayer. However, I do think that it means to pray about things as you think of them throughout your day. Just quick prayers like, "God be with my husband today as he travels to Columbus for the day". Then, later on, I may think of another thing to add to that prayer.

Thank God in ALL circumstances...this is a tough one for me! Notice that it does not say "thank God FOR all circumstances", rather it says "IN all circumstances". That is a huge difference! Can we be thankful during difficult times? Absolutely! Even if we are not thankful FOR those times, God promises to work all things together for the good of those who are called, according to His purpose. That means that even in the difficult times, if we have a personal relationship with Him, He promises to work it our for our good. There will be a blessing out of the difficult time. I learned from a dear friend, that it is important to look for God's blessings during difficult times. We may want to wallow in our troubles, but if we look around us, we will see God's hand working wonders!! Journal those times!

Journaling can be a very fun, exciting, healing, thought-provoking time. Try it! Take this verse and use it as a guide to journal your prayers.

Tuesday's Tip...Binders!!

I am so sorry that I didn't do Faithful Friday this past Friday. I had preplanning for preschool every day last week and was soooo tired. Yes, I teach preschool 2 days a week. I have a precious group of 8 little toddlers! I absolutely love it. With that, my ~~other work~~ hobbies, my family, home, church activities and kids activities...I just simply did not have time to write it all out for Friday.

This photo was taken during one of our training days! We were sent on a "digital" scavenger hunt for various photos. One was that we all had to be in, on or pushing the shopping cart all at once! Well, we did it with 2 of us in the cart and one on while the other 2 tried to push. One funny part, was that the photo was taken by one of our student's dad! He loved that we were acting like kids.
Now, do you see why I was so tired after the week?? Oh, and that is me in the pink/red/whatever color that is, in the front sitting on top of another teacher!

But, today is a new day, and it is Tuesday! So...on to the tip. I saw this tip on another blog, but unfortunately, cannot remember whose it was. If it was you, please let me know so that I can give credit where it's due.

I LOVE binders!! I have started using them for everything and can't get enough of them. This week, I want to show you how I use ONE to hold information for my kids classes, church activities, sports, my classes, etc. It is my "Mom Binder".

The very front holds the student county calendar. VERY important to have this little jewel close by.

I have tab dividers in it for each child and activities. Then, I put in sheet protectors to hold information that will get looked at throughout the year. I could 3 hole punch all of the papers and then file them away, but I ~~am too lazy~~ don't have enough time to do that. So, this way, I can change out whatever sheets I need to at any given time.
At the very front of each child's section, I have their class newsletter. This way, I have the important dates close by. Like yesterday, when my oldest reminded me that he had 2 tests scheduled for today. Had I actually read the newsletter when I put it in the protector, I would have known this. But, that part of the lesson is for another day (actually reading information from the teacher).

I love my "Mom Binder" and keep in in the living area, so that I have it when I need it.

I am so excited about my new little project!! I friend of mine at church, just had a precious baby girl. This great thought popped into my head: Oh, I can make her a name banner and hang it on their door to welcome baby Carolina home!

So, I got busy and here is what I came up with:

I played around with a lot of colors first, and didn't like it. Then, remembering how much I love pink and brown, I decided to try that instead. I like it so much more than the other one. It was pink, purple and green.
I added the baby's birth date at the bottom. Now, they can use it as a wall hanging or pull it our for Carolina's future birthday parties.

Confession here: I didn't make it to their house before they came home from the hospital. So, it will go with me when I take them a meal this week.

While I was brainstorming this whole personalized banner thingy, I was looking at painters canvas on rolls. WOW, is that stuff expensive!! So, while I was in a fabric shop (shocking) with my mom (shocking yet again), I came across this fabric that is white out. It is a very thick fabric with a cream side and a smooth white side. I painted on the white side. Let me just say that it was so easy to paint on and dried really fast! If you are going to make one of these little things, I highly recommend the fabric instead of the canvas. Much less expensive!!

Faithful Friday...Striving to be like Jesus! and Candle Giveaway!

Well, I attended a training class for the preschool teachers at my church preschool this week. We had a great time together. Imagine, 14 women of all ages getting together to "train" on teaching preschool. It really was a lot of fun! Our director is awesome, the best around.

We have a theme for the teachers every year, just to help us stay focused. This year, our theme is "Striving to BEE like Jesus". What an awesome theme! For some of the kids that attend our preschool, this is the only "church" they will ever get. And, we have an awesome opportunity to teach them about Jesus!

So, here are a few of the verses that were picked out to go with our "BEE" theme. Ephesians 4:2 was my favorite for the day. It says "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love". Isn't that awesome?!? Especially in dealing with preschoolers and their families.

Another good one is Ephesians 4:32. It reads "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you." Is it hard for you to forgive as Christ forgave? My answer is YES! I'll be honest, that is a struggle a lot of times. I think part of our human nature is to hold grudges and not forgive, so that is why Christ has to tell us in His word to forgive.

I think those are two awesome verses to set to memory. Both of them show Jesus' love, compassion and forgiveness. If we are going to "strive to be like Jesus", then we need to hold on to these verses!

This week, I had an awesome opportunity to meet (in blogland, of course) a great lady by the name of Karen. She has a really neat candle shop on the internet, named Karen's Country Candles. Here is quick little "interview" that I did with her this week...

Julie: How long has Karen’s Country Candles been in business?
Karen: We have been in Business for about 16 years.

Julie: What is the story behind the business?
Karen: Back in 1993 a friend and I started wood painting. We would buy tons of books and patterns, cut out our own wood pieces and paint daily. That was a job and a half. We set up in many craft fairs and one day decided that wood painting was very time consuming and wasn’t selling that well. So we decided to try our hand at Candle making. My friend dropped out of the candle making and went back to wood painting but I continued to make my candles. I made so many mistakes and wasted a lot of time, wax, and fragrance, but the desire to make this happen kept me going. Eventually, I got the hang of it and took my candles to a local craft show and sold out.I would receive many orders from the local people and had to think about what I was going to do to fill these orders.

In 1994, Karen’s Country Candles was started in my home which is nestled in a small community outside our hometown of Mena, Arkansas called Dallas Valley. The name of the business came about due to the beautiful Country Scenery of the Ouachita Mountains that surround us. My daughter Jamie and Daughter in law Priscilla started helping me fill the orders and it has become a great business for us. We opened Karen’s Country Candles website in September of 07. It started out really slow the first year but has picked up the pace a bit. We sell a lot of products to the local Doctor’s Offices, Banks, Insurance Offices, and so on. Everywhere we go now, someone has one of our candles sitting around. It is a great feeling to know that the local community enjoys something that you have made by hand.

Today, we continue to sell our Great Smelling Candles and Tarts out of my home and our goal is to open a full blown Candle Shop to the general public in the near future.

Julie: What is your favorite product and fragrance that you sell?
Karen: Our favorite / best selling product is our 16 oz. Jar Candle. The best selling fragrance that we have is the "Apple Butter", which we generally sell all year long.

Julie: I am sure you are extremely busy around Christmas time, so do you have a deadline for orders to be guaranteed for Christmas delivery?
Karen: I prefer to have orders placed for Christmas delivery by December 10. I can get most of my products shipped out by or on that date but the postal service is what I worry about. Sometimes around the holidays they are pretty slow and the delivery time may take longer.

Julie: What is the burn time for your candles?
Karen: Our 16 oz. Candle burns about 75 hours. The normal burn time for a candle this size.

Julie: Is there anything special that you would like for my readers to know?Karen: I would like everyone to know that all our Candles and Tarts are hand made by myself, my daughter, and my daughter in law. We hand pour all candles and tarts and hand package every product that requires packaging. We feel that a handmade product needs to be just that… Hand Made. We also do custom Gift Baskets and Candle Sets upon request. We ship to the recipient, and we also ship out Secret Sister and/or Secret Pal packages for customers.

kitchen tips...

So, I have decided to devote today to "kitchen tips"...organization, that is.

For a long time, I wondered how in the world to organize all of my "gadgets". Well, with help from my mom, I organize my gadgets in tiny little bucket container type thingamajigs. See...

This drawer holds my measuring spoons, apple corer/cutter, cutting boards and some children's medicine droppers. I love my polkadot measuring spoons, they are my favorite. (yes, I went to a pottery place and painted them)

This drawer holds my wooden spoons, spatulas, and other misc items. Notice the plastic containers? I am a sucker for containers of any kind! I have one for my measuring spoons, one for wooden spoons, spatulas, so on and so on.

Then, I also keep a pitcher on my counter with all of my utensils for non-stick cookware. Now that I see all of this in pictures, why in the world do I have all of this? Are you like me, and a collector of kitchen gadgets? That isn't even all of my "stash". We listed our house a while back and I cleaned out. I think I need to do that again!

Now, I asked some friends on FB how they organize their kitchen. Here is what some of them said:

Bridget keeps a little basket under her counter with all of her measuring spoons and cups. I like that idea because I LOVE baskets!

Stephanie and Rachel both use metal containers on the counter for cooking utensils. Metal is always good because it goes with everything. Stephanie also puts cereal into the sealed containers to do away with bulky cereal boxes! When the cereal gets low, they simply add a different flavor and mix it all up. How fun is that for her kids!

Then, my mom and Rachel both like to organize their pantry using containers. Funny story here: my mom has used sealed containers for crackers, sugar and other things like that. But, recently, there was something that she didn't put into a sealed container and she came home to find tiny little moths EVERYWHERE! Ugh, she was not happy. But, she learned that everything needs to be removed from original packaging and put into sealed containers. I have followed in her footsteps (great ones, I might add), and started using sealed containers for lots of things.

It's Crochet Time!

I am so excited to show you what I have been working on! I found this little crochet pattern for an adorable baby cloche (fancy word for hat). Faithful Friday: Mary & Martha

Oh my! This week has been such a blur. I have been running around like a crazy woman. School started for 2 of my kids on Monday and it has been hustle and bustle ever since.

This week really fits in with what I am reading right now. I found a book called Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver. I started reading it a while back and for some reason just could not get into the book. Well, now I know why I put the book down. It just wasn't time for me to read it...NOW is the time!
I love how the Lord does that in my life. Has it ever happened to you?

So, the book. I have only ready the first chapter and it is already what I need for this time in my life! The entire book is based on Luke 10:38-42. Joanna takes the story of the sisters Mary and Martha and she relates it to today's world.

Let's think back for a moment. Jesus was traveling around and Martha opened up her home to him. Martha ran around trying to get everything ready for him while her sister, Mary, sat at Jesus' feet and listened to him. Hmmm...who are you?? Mary? or Martha? Well, right now, I am definitely a "Martha". I am always preparing for something or someone. Unfortunately, I do not take the time that I know I should, to "sit" at Jesus' feet and simply listen to him.

So far, the Lord has taught me through this first chapter and a couple of scripture verses, that I REALLY need to take time to slow down and listen to HIM!!

Matthew 11:28-29 says "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." WOW! The only way to truly receive rest is to lay at the feet of Jesus.

Have you taken time to "sit" at His feet lately? My prayer for you, is that you would take the time to do this. God will really speak to us when we take time to focus on Him. It is very important to be about His work, but it is also so important to be still and seek Him.

Tuesday's Tip!

I actually did the "happy dance" today! Two of my kids started back to school. One is in the 1st grade and the other is in 4th. I can't believe how fast time flies. I was thinking earlier about how fast the day went by and wondered if the year would go by just as fast. That scares me just a little bit!

Our family had a great summer going to the beach and the mountains a couple of times, relaxing, hanging out with friends and family and of course the "occasional" argument. Can any of you relate to that last part? Now that summer is over and school has begun, it is time to get the calendar organized...so...that is today's tip!

This is how I organize our schedule during the school year:

I know that is hard to see, but, it is a calendar that hangs on my fridge and I use a wet/erase marker to write on it. At the top there is a space for me to write in what week I have written down. And, my favorite part is the left side. Do you see all of the stick figures? No? Okay, let me help you a little...

Maybe that's a little better. Anyways, all of us are listed with our character and our name. Then, I go through and write down who has what and on what day and at what time. Wow, that's a lot of "what"s.

I keep it posted on the fridge so that we all can see what is going on. Notice that I wrote "all of us are listed"? Yes, that means me and my husband as well! It helps us to coordinate when we see what the other has going on. Sometimes we have to tag team on nights that are really busy. This way, we know who is helping with what activity. Right now, the calendar looks pretty blank. That will all change in the next couple of weeks when my youngest son starts t-ball and my daughter starts piano. The oldest started football before school even started. Whew, I'm tired already!

I love having a busy life and I love that my kids have the opportunity to be involved in extra-curricular activities. I truly would not want it any other way! This is just a little way of helping keep all of those activities organized.

Faithful Friday! He has plans!

Have you ever read Jeremiah 29:11???

I have read it over and over and over! Especially right now. It says, "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and a future." WOW! That is major to me. Oftentimes, we make our own plans for our future, but God may have other plans. I think it is very important that we be open to His plans and seek what He wants for us.

My husband and I had our "path" mapped out, until we hit a bump in the road. He lost his job back in April. It is now August, and he still does not have a job. Believe me, it not for lack of searching! There is not much out there in his field. He has had a bunch of interviews, but God just has not put the right job in his path. That is a very difficult concept to grasp right now. And, it is something that I am having to pray about on a VERY regular basis.

Side note here: In 2008-09, I was teaching preschool and resigned from my position for the next year (last year) to help more in the elementary school that my older 2 children attend. Well, I am very happy to tell you that this year, my position became available and I will be teaching again! This was a HUGE blessing and answer to prayer.

On to more of the verse that the Lord has used to speak to me...If you read the first few words, it says "For I know the plans I have for you". Let me just emphasize "I" for a moment. "I" is the Lord, not me! He has plans for me and my family that I don't even know about yet. Let me just throw away MY plans totally.

If you read on it says "plans to prosper you and not to harm you". That means that He has the very best for me in His plan. Love that! Plans that are going to help me grow and become a better person. Plans that He will use to mold me into the person that He wants me to become.

Lastly, it says, "plans to give you hope and a future". My hope is in Him and knowing that His plans are better than any that I could ever think of is so comforting to me.

When I stop and think about this particular verse, I gain more confidence in the fact that He loves me unconditionally and truly has the best for me in His plans. I just have to be patient and wait on that plan to be revealed.

Stamped Jewelry

Not too long ago, I decided to try hand stamping jewelry. Surprise, surprise...I LOVE IT!!

It is not too difficult to learn, but purchasing the tools can be costly. Here are some pieces that I have created for others...

Don't you love the simplicity of this? JOY is my favorite word, so yes, this piece is mine! It reminds me that true joy can only come from Jesus. Since I have a relationship with Jesus, I can have "joy" in my life even during the most difficult times when I am not "happy".

This is another one of my favorites. Have you heard Chris Tomlin's song "Amazing Love"? Well, that is where the inspiration for this piece came from. God's love is truly amazing!!

Yes, this one says "GODIVA"...as in chocolates! When my aunt saw my piece that said "JOY" and I explained that joy is my favorite word, she commented that she needed one that said "CHOCOLATE". My mind started spinning with how I could fit CHOCOLATE on a piece. There are too many letters to fit on the tag, so I opted for "GODIVA". She loves this!! It is so fun and whimsical.

Here is another whimsical piece..."CUTE as a button". The tiny disc in the center is punched to look like a button. My daughter wears this one with her colorful outfits.

Tuesday's Tips!

I am so excited to bring you a new post! Every Tuesday, I will be posting organizing tips. They will either be tips that I use, have found or others have shared with me. If you have any, feel free to send them my way.

School starts next Monday for 2 of my kids, so I thought "what an appropriate time to get organized". Hmmm, seems that I "think" that every year at this time and in January. Maybe I will actually implement these tips to help ~~keep~~ get my home organized.

This first tip is from a friend of mine, Debbie. She has three boys in her household...two of them are her kids and the other is her husband. They are such a neat family, so I wanted to share her tip with you!

She has 4 color coded bins/baskets/containers at the bottom of her stairs. Each color is for a different person in the house. Throughout the day, she will toss miscellaneous items, that need to be put away, into the appropriate container. At the end of the day, each person takes their basket to their bedroom and puts those items away.
I love this! She lives in a 2 story house, so she has stairs to her bedrooms, and this works well. I live in a ranch style house, so I think I need to have cute containers outside of each bedroom.

Bathroom Re-do

I have been working my my bathroom for a couple of weeks and wanted to share my projects. There are still a few things left to do, but this gives you an idea. Unfortunately, I don't have any before pictures, so I'll just have to explain some.

First of all, I wanted to do all of this for under $100, AND I did!!!

My old bathroom had yellow walls, a cream cabinet with silver hardware. Here is what I did..

.When you open the door, you look a this wall...very plain, so I made this cute canvas that is a 16 x 20 with whimsical lettering....what do you think?

I worked on the cabinet for a few days, and this is what I came up with. Remember, the cabinet was a dingy cream color.

So, I removed all doors and drawers, spray painted the hardware black and painted the cabinet a light tan color. Once that dried, I took a dark stain and brushed it on the cabinet then immediately wiped it off with a clean cloth. I love the distressed look that it gave to the cabinet. It was EXACTLY the look I was going for.

The rest is decor...

I love blue and brown (my husband does NOT), so, I chose a blue for the walls and brown for accents. I have not sewn the window treatment yet, but plan to finish that this week. Then I had these white plaques from Southern Living at Home stored in a chest. I pulled them out and they got a little touch of brown paint to make the design show up just a little more.

This is one of my favorite parts of the room. The plant is in an old candy dish that was my great-grandmother's. I love the sweet touch that it adds to the bathroom. The lamp came from Wal-mart for $10 and the brown leather box came up from the basement. I love the look of personalized items in any part of the house, so I added an ivory linen hemstitched handtowel with an "L" on it. (These will be offered on my etsy shop!)
The angel planter at the top is something that I will hold on to forever. Yes, there is a story behind that precious cherub. I had a baby boy (my 2nd child out of 4) who was stillborn at 39 weeks. This planter was given to me with a beautiful plant after his death. The plant was re-planted and the planter was put in this bathroom. That was 7 years ago, and the planter has never been anywhere else in my house. I am planning on giving him a fresh coat of paint, but not just yet.

I'm back from the beach with the kids and my mom. I was ready to get home to see my hubby! But, we did have a great time!

Family Photo Frame

So, this weekend, my Grandmother (Maw-Maw) turned 92 years old! She is an amazing lady and I love her dearly. I think if the blogging world had been around in her day, she definitely would have been involved in it.

A few things about Maw-Maw...she loves her family and loves Jesus! She was always an amazing cook. I would ask her how to make something, like biscuits, and here is what she would say. "You take your flour in a big bowl, just a few handfuls of flour. Then, you take about 5 fingers ful of shortning and work that in real good, but not too much. Your buscits will be hard if you work it too much. Then you just pour in your buttermilk and work that in just a little." Ok, now, who in the world can follow that recipe??? I couldn't, but I will always remember that this is how she told me to make homemade biscuits. I love to cook and I think that came from her.

Another thing, my Maw-Maw sewed A LOT! Well, I have also followed along in those footsteps as well. I enjoy sewing, and especially enjoy teaching people how to sew.

My Maw-Maw also has (yes, still does) a green thumb. She can make anything grow! I can remember my mom talking about taking what she thought was a "dead" plant to my grandmother to see if she could save it, and guess what...she did!! I wish I could say that I got a green thumb from her, but unfortunately, I didn't.

Now, since it was her birthday, I wanted to give her something special from my family (including my brothers and their families). So, I printed off a photo of my whole family from the beach, then found a wooden frame and painted it for her. I like how it turned out. Now, my Maw-Maw has 3 children...my dad, and his 2 sisters. This photo is of my dad's part of her family. Maw-Maw has the 3 children, 3 in-laws, 6 grandchildren plus in-laws and 7 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way. I'd say she is a very blessed lady!

We had a great time at her party, thanks to my aunt being an awesome hostess! It was great to see family that we haven't seen in a really long time.

Chic Click Carnival

I am joining a blog party called Chic Click Carnival. The purpose of this is to introduce myself and one other new "peep" to the blogging world....so...a little about me...

I am a stay at home mom, most of the time. I do teach preschool 2 days a week. There are 3 beautiful children and an amazing man living in my home that I call family. I have 2 sons and a daughter. My family is so precious to me and I would do anything in the world for them. My other love is my Savior! Without Jesus Christ in my life, I don't know where I would be....scary thought!

I love to do any type of craft. Sew, scrapbook, paint, and yes, I consider cooking to be a craft. My blog is for those things that I love to do.

New project: Journal Cover

Yay!! I have a new project...journal covers. This is an awesome project because it can be for boys or girls, men or women. The one that I made is for ME! I love journals and am in desperate need of a prayer journal...so...I made a cover for one of those ugly composition books that you can get really cheap. Here is how it turned out...

I just love the ragged ruffle and the button adds just a little something extra. You can always add an initial or word on it somewhere, or do it in camo for a boy!

Oh, how my mind is spinning with ideas right now.

Girls in Ruffles!

So, here is a gift set that I made for a friend to give as a baby gift.

Don't you just love the little ruffles??? I wanted to "girl-ify" (if that can be a word) it a little for cuteness. There is a burp cloth, a bib and a onesie. The bib has a light pink minky dot fabric on the backside, so it is extra soft!

Once my friend saw the first set, she asked me to make a t-shirt for the big sister that matches...this is what I came up with. SO.....here is the "matching set"...

Coca-Cola Cake...YUMMY!!!

I tried a new recipe the other day, and it turned out pretty good. So, I'm sharing it with you!

It is a "Coca-Cola" Cake...BUT my version is a "Dr. K" cake. I'm sure you can google to find the original recipe.

Cake:
2 cups sugar
2 c plus 1 TBSP cake flour
1 1/2 cups small marshmallows
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 TBSP cocoa
1 Cup of Dr. Pepper, Dr. K, or Mr. Pibb
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk or regular milk with a splash of lime juice
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
3 tablespoons cocoa
6 TBSP of the soft drink, or whatever is left in the can
1 box (16 ounces) confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans ( I didn't put this in)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.Cream together the butter, cocoa, and sugar. Add in the eggs and oil. Slowly add in the dry ingredients alternating with the milk. Fold in the soft drink and marshmallows. Pour into a well-greased 9-by-13-inch pan and bake 35 to 45 minutes. Remove from oven and frost
immediately.
To make frosting, combine butter, cocoa and soft drink in a saucepan. Bring to a
boil and pour over confectioners' sugar, blending well. Add vanilla extract and
pecans. Spread over hot cake. When cool, cut into squares and serve.

I like this the best when it is still warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but my husband likes it best totally cooled all by itself.

I'm back! I have been baking lots of things and will be adding new and exciting recipes to this site, like my version of the old fashioned Coca-Cola Cake along with others.

Bur first, here are some sewing projects that I recently completed. This one is a double sided flannel baby blanket.

And a coordinating bib for the little cutie!

This was a baby gift set that someone ordered from me. I do hope the little guy has enjoyed the set!

Cookie Kits!

Ok, so yes, it has been almost a month since I've updated my blog.
We got a ton of rain here in Atlanta just a couple of weeks ago, and my basement flooded. God was with us, because I cleaned up the basement the night of the flood and that saved a lot of our stuff! If I hadn't, then a lot of the kids toys and my sewing stuff would have been ruined. Fortunately, we didn't loose too much. I have seen others with a ton of devastation, so I am very thankful that ours wasn't to that extreme...

Now, on to fun stuff!!! I have been baking lately and want to share it with you all. I did a "Cookie Kit" for a preschool Fall Festival. They wanted 5 dozen sugar cookies cut out in the shapes of pumpkins and leaves. I did buttercream icing and 3 different kinds of sprinkles for the kids to decorate with. Here are the pictures of them! I would love to see what the end result is, but probably won't.

I sure hope the kids have fun with them!

I think this would be fun for a birthday party, don't you?

Hairbows!!!

Okay, I have been so busy. We are getting our house ready to put on the market, so I haven't been able to do much sewing. However, my friend has! You will see some more of her precious dresses and hairbows for sale on julieklewis.etsy.com....take a look!

We are offering specials on Fridays. Every Friday, it will be something different! This week it is hairbows.....see the picture

Aren't they cute??? These are on ponytail holders, but can be made on clips too.

We are also going to post some Yellow Jacket dresses and UGA dresses on there for football season, so stay on the lookout for those!

Oh, and the teachers loved the cookies that I took them during pre-planning...the picture from a previous post!

I am also getting ready for a couple of shows coming up in the next couple of weeks. Let's see, what else can I add to my plate? No, you don't have to answer that!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Whew, I've been a busy bee lately! I just got some things posted on my new etsy store. You'll have to take a peek. The store is julieklewis.etsy.com and has just a few things on there.
Like this toile dress, but you'll have to go to the store to see the rest...so check it out!

Unfortunately, I cannot take credit for these beautiful dresses. I did not make these. But, my friend did! She is awesome and has some of the cutest dresses for little girls that I have ever seen!

I also spent the good part of Monday making these...

Since I am not teaching preschool this year, I had to make these cookies for those who are. This week is pre-planning week for them, so I thought this would be a nice treat for them. I had so much fun making them, it was so relaxing and I learned a lot while making them. I can't wait for an excuse to make more! If I bake more, I'll be sure to let you all know.

Baby Gift Set

Ok, so now that the apron give-away is over and the craft fair is over, I'm on to more projects!

I just made a onesie and 2 coordinating burpies for a baby gift, and I think they turned out quite nice. I think I'll add the baby's name, but wanted to take a picture of it before I embroidered on it.

The Big Creek Fair was a lot of fun. I shared a booth with a friend and we really enjoyed ourselves. We both learned a lot about setting up and displaying items, so it was a great experience for both of us!

I am really excited to tell you all that I now have a store on etsy!! You can go to www.etsy.com and look under the sellers for julieklewis...that's me!!! I'll try to post a link on here as well. Right now, I don't have a lot posted on there, but hope to add more soon. I have to get a lot of pictures taken so that I can upload them into the store. Another project that I hope to post on here soon is a t-shirt blanket that I am making for a friend. She brought me a lot of her children's old t-shirts. I have cut them up and am making a blanket out of them. I'll show you the finished project, hopefully this week!

School is just around the corner here in the Atlanta area! I can't believe it. I will have one in 3rd grade and one starting Kindergarten. But, I still have one at home with me!

This is an apron that I made for a friend whose husband has a Chick-fil-a...
she wanted one to wear to the different events at Chick-fil-a.
I think it turned out pretty cute!

I am back from the beach and all-star tournaments! We had a great time, but I am ready to get sewing again. I have been fabric shopping and have found some adorable fabric to use.
Here are some photos of the new aprons that I have made. I am trying to get them ready for a craft fair in August, so I must sew, sew and sew.

Ok, so this is the first patchwork bag that I have done...ever! I think I like it. It was an order for a baby shower gift. I think it turned out quite "girly". And, Braelyn is a really cute name!

I am always looking for new ways to create handmade (mostly sewn) items. The photo above is a new apron that I tried out a few weeks ago...the photo was taken by my 5 year old daughter.

This is a diaper bag that I made a while back for a customer. At the time, pink and brown was the "thing".

Ok, so I have also made somewhat of a "career change". I am now a consultant for a company called "Yours Truly Designs". They create the most adorable stationery I have seen! You MUST check them out on the web. Your options are endless...and they even have the "from the mom of" notepads where you can choose your stick figure kids and add them to the paper. LOVE IT!! I do have an email that goes out every now and then to my customers, if you would like to be added to the list, you can post a response with your email.
